Hi my name is Kristina Riauke and I live in Ireland. I’ve been making quilts for the past year.
I discovered that I loved quilting ever since I went to my first quilting class. I bought my first sewing machine to hem my husband’s trousers 6 years ago and until I discovered quilting it stood in my home collecting dust .
The first quilt I ever made was for my son . He became so attached to the quilt that when I put it into the washing machine he refused to go to sleep until he got the quilt back. The quilt not only won first place in my son’s heart but it also won second place in the Irish Country Show Competition.
I make quilts for babies, because I find that they are smaller and I only have a domestic sewing machine, so trying to sew a big quilt on one of those would be my new Everest .
Quilting is one of my hobbies and I find that it relaxes me until I relax too much and stitch wrong and I have to pull out the seam ripper.
As most quilters I buy a lot of fabrics but some fabrics are too beautiful to cut so I just keep them on my “special” shelf.
For my tenth anniversary I ask for none other but a sewing machine, but my husband protested at first and said I already had three and getting a fourth one would be pointless, but when I persuaded him, as most women do, he agreed.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a long arm machine for our twentieth anniversary . If you want to see more of my crafts check this out https://www.facebook.com/
