If you have a little boy, then you know how hard it is to keep them entertained on a rainy day. Boys are full of energy and often don’t like to sit down and craft. However, if you can make the craft fun, odd, or scary, they will love it. Here are four crafts that will get the little monsters creating.
Monster T-Shirt – If you really want to get crafty, then help your boys make their own monster t-shirts. It is very easy to do and there is no real way to make a mistake. All you need for this craft is some single-color t-shirts and some black and white material. You can simply glue the material to the shirt, or sew it on to make it more lasting.
Toilet Roll Monsters –For a fun recycling craft, have the boys reuse old toilet paper rolls to make monsters. All they have to do is fold down the tops to make them flatter, and then decorate the rolls with paint, crayons, yarn or paper for hair, glitter, stickers, and googly eyes. Pretty soon, you’ll have a gaggle of monsters populating your home.
Shooting Monsters – A great outdoor craft on a scorching summer day. Have the boys cut out monster shapes from paper and glue on a little triangle at the back to hold them in a standing position. Then they can stand them up around the yard and have a target shooting competition with their water guns. They can even add splotches of red marker so when the paper gets wet, the monsters ‘bleed’.
Paper Bag Puppet Monsters–Kids love puppets, and there is nothing easier for a kid to make a puppet out of then a paper lunch sack. Decorate with construction paper, crayons, markers, sticker, and googly eyes to make your own monsters. Then have the boys plan a puppet show. If they tear up the bags ‘attacking’ one another, no big deal. There are always more monsters!
No matter what kind of boys you have and how much they say they hate crafts, they will love coming up with creative ways to make their monsters. Try a couple of these fun things with your boys and even your girls and see if they don’t show a new interest in crafting!
